Care Bears

At our house, we love the Care Bears and all things related to them.
We have acquired quite a few (like 30) over the 4 years that Avery has been a small, human child......now Emmy too, has developed a bit of a crush on these fuzzy little guys.

Emmy enjoys talking to them in her unique gibberish language, loving them, feeding them and for some odd reason, she enjoys lining them up across the couch or across the floor.
Its cute how systematic she is with her little friends. She strategically places them one by one and when she is done, stands back to admire her accomplishment with great pride.
Unfortunately, her pleasure is always short lived.
Her joy ends with Avery taking Funshine Bear out of the lineup, which in turn, upsets Emmy's order of operations and inevitably leads to a full blown brawl between the siblings.
And guess who gets to be the referee for this madness?
This happens daily, its no fun.

Though, now that I think of it, it seems that Funshine Bear and Wish Bear seem to be the top chosen contenders to fight over........if it were me, Cheer Bear would be the only Bear to warrant a scuffle.

A little 80's nostalgia for y'all

Minivan driving Mama

I will admit it, I own, love and drive a minivan......there, I totally said it out loud.
For those non-minivan drivers out there, you don't know what you are missing!
In my younger years, I NEVER would have envisioned myself driving a "grocery-getter" (as Care-Bear refers to my vehicle).....but I have acquired quite a fondness for my lovely Mazda MPV.....aka "Mama-Pimp-Van".

It has everything I need when away from home and more....
-Spacious seating for 7....for those of us who travel in packs
-Ample room for our rather large Britax car seats
-Radio controls on the steering wheel.....nice feature
-Power everything....smooth driving....anti lock brakes, I'm trying to get technical here
-DVD player.....I know, I don't need a lecture about this......
-I think it is rather cute for a van, or bus as Remily and Tate call it
-So much room for shopping and/or traveling....great feature
-It is so easy for the kids to get in and out of
-If I am the passenger and there is a really cranky child in the back, I can easily move to the back and handle the situation accordingly.....of course, this is only when absolutely necessary, as I abide by the law.....Click it or Ticket!

So, when you see me cruising in my Mama Pimp Van......don't feel sorry for me, I am totally diggin' my ride!

OK, that is my psa for today.......don't hate....congratulate!

Happy Holidays!

The 2007 Christmas card, which was sent out....so I'm sure that you have all seen it, but I wanted to post it anyway!

This is the 2007 Christmas card that Chris and I put together for the neighbors.....yes David Hasselhoff lives with my parents.

my confession

Most women* would agree (if they don't, they are lying) that during the cold winter months, shaving (as well as a nice thorough pedicure) becomes less of priority.

Some reasons for this is, are as follows:

-body parts are fully covered as it is cold

-cold mornings make it difficult to wake up with ample time to factor in shaving

-shaving days require extra time for post shower lotion application, as winter air and home heating is quite drying on the skin

-certain women don't shower every day....I wouldn't personally know about this

-who REALLY cares?

In stating that, I do have to say that I was able to shower and shave today after a little break and it feels great!

Too bad for Chris, its that time of the month.....

*Certain (single) women with exciting, impulsive, spontaneous social calendars, may not fall into this group.

ohh the pain!!!

I had an absolutely horrible time sleeping last night.
Why, you ask?
Well, my little, angel-baby, Avery crept in and snuggled her way into my bed..........which I don't mind at all, she is a cuddle bug and its really cute when she wakes up in the morning.
Anyway, what I did mind, was that the little bugger was a complete bed hog and took up so much room........so, as Avery and Chris were slumbering ever so comfortably......I was left with the very edge of the bed, to be specific, like 4 inches of mattress space.
Trying not to roll off the bed or onto Avery, I was turned on my side all night....trying like hell to sleep, listening to the snores and basically feeling the muscles stiffen as the minutes passed.

Finally around 6ish, I had to move from that side position.....omg, the pain was so bad!
You all know this pain.....trying to get up, there is a maneuver that you do, kind of moving with the pain, but not altering the shape that you have fossilized into. You definitely can't make any sudden head movements as this will send your body into shock from the intense pain......so when you are finally standing up straight, your head is locked into position for the day.

I went into Avery's room and tried to sleep in her twin sized Tinkerbell bed. Its just as painful to get back in bed as it is getting out. So, I forced myself to straighten out......it felt like my muscular system was ripping off of my skeletal system....

I am up for the day and feeling a bit better with my trusty, mentholated Icy Hot.....which is quite popular among the elderly folks.
Now I am off to take some Metamucil, eat some prunes and watch my stories.....

Brrrrrrrrr..........

I had to pack us all up to do a few errands this morning......coffee run, bank deposit, mail out Christmas cards......just the basics.
Anyway, it is sooooooo cold outside, I already hate this!
I realize that we are in December, but man this is going to be a long, miserable, cold winter.
It is painful and its so painful to bundle the kids up in so many layers that they can't move.....think Randy (Ralphie's little brother) in A Christmas Story.

Hey, I dare you to try to carry (because the driveway is a sheet of ice....another issue) an already large 20 month old, who has an added 10 pounds now because of the winter layer bulkiness.....
Now try and fit this child into a restrictive car seat......and imagine for yourself, how long this child will tolerate this.....its not fun......not fun at all.

Saturday night in Boston

We had a great time last night, Grandma and Gramps babysat the girlies and DJ slept over
Corey's house, so we were able to go out.

We took the train from Attleboro to South Station and met up with Al. The train was fine, but it was so cold out last night.....Chris didn't bring any gloves, luckily Al had an extra pair ......they were pretty ugly, but kept him from getting frostbite.

We cabbed it to Faneuil Hall and ate dinner at
Ned Devine's, good food and good drinks.
I enjoyed a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and sipped on a yummy watermelontini....delish!

After dinner, we headed back out into the frigid cold and walked a couple of blocks to a little bar called the Green Dragon.
This is where I drank a few too many chocolate martinis, listened to cheesy 80's music (love it!) until the live band came in and basically had fun!
Gross bathrooms though.......and someone near us was letting out some serious gas, we resorted to spraying perfume until Al grabbed the Lysol from the men's room!

We stayed for a couple of hours until it was time to head back out into the cold to grab a cab, get back to South Station and catch 11pm train.
I slept whole train ride back.....so don't have much to say about that.
Don't worry, Chris was not in the same same state as I was, so he was fine to drive from the Attleboro train station to our house.
We had a blast, but I am
so paying for my sins today!

to do list

1. pick up toys that have found their way to every room in the house
2. go to market as all of the food in the house has been eaten by the small people who live here
3. cook, provided I accomplish #2
4. play with kids
5. get some laundry going
6. wrap some pressies.....I am trying to stay ahead and not have to do them all at once
7. vacuum......I love this particular chore
8. make lunches for the boys......my attempt at being a domestic goddess
